The Sacramento Kings will likely undergo some roster shuffling under a new general manager this off-season. After a couple of letdown years following their first playoff appearance in 17 NBA seasons, they may be looking to ship off at least one of their high-priced commodities.
Which NBA Teams Might Trade For DeMar DeRozan?
Forward DeMar DeRozan fits that bill, and there are odds that have been released regarding which teams are most likely to trade for him. We take a look at the top three, and whether their betting designations hold good value:
Miami Heat | +145 |
Los Angeles Lakers | +220 |
Denver Nuggets | +375 |
Toronto Raptors | +375 |
Philadelphia 76ers | +525 |
Miami Heat +145
The oddsmakers’ decision to give the Heat the lowest designation is a questionable one. Two of Miami’s three highest paid players for next season are Tyler Herro and Andrew Wiggins, who play the positions that DeRozan plays. The trio combined would cost the Heat $75 million for next season alone, and with only two starting spots available between them.
Miami is likely to go hunting for the big fish that are projected to be available this coming NBA off-season. If they were to trade for DeRozan, it would likely be due to missing out on their primary targets and essentially having to settle. These factors make a union between the two sides feel unlikely, which makes the Heat an interesting choice for the lowest betting odds.
Los Angeles Lakers +220
The Lakers have their two stars in place, but nearly every other player on the roster could be considered trade fodder if they want to form any kind of new “big three”.
LeBron James and Luka Doncic will earn a combined $99 million in 2025-26, with the next-highest earner slated to be Rui Hachimura at $18.2 million. That means that Los Angeles would be able to dangle some of their role players in order to create the needed space for a DeMar DeRozan trade.
The soon-to-be 36-year-old certainly fits the timeline for what should be LeBron’s final season or two. But would the Kings trade to one of their bitter rivals without receiving key pieces in return? While the Lakers are certainly a candidate for a DeRozan trade, the value on +220 doesn’t feel worth the risk.

Denver Nuggets +375
Since their 2025 playoff run ended, there have been trade rumors quietly popping up around the Denver Nuggets. Guys like Michael Porter Jr. and Christian Braun have been mentioned as possible trade candidates, as the team could potentially look to improve one of their weak points this offseason.
The Nuggets had some of their flaws exposed during the 2025 NBA Playoffs, namely their depth. So unless there were a bigger trade in the works that would bring in multiple players, why would Denver want to give up part of their championship core to bring in someone like DeRozan? Perhaps he could replace Porter Jr in the starting lineup and save money in the deal, which would allow them to allocate the extra funds to improve the depth chart.
The Toronto Raptors share a +375 designation with the Nuggets, but it feels like Denver would be a better bet for this scenario.
