Alexander’s time as a Packer has ended.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Packers released Alexander on Monday morning, one day before the team’s mandatory minicamp.
The Packers attempted to trade Alexander this offseason, especially during the 2025 NFL Draft. However, the team was unable to find a trade partner, and the deal never materialized.
The Packers reportedly offered Alexander a restructured deal that would reduce the cornerback’s pay. Alexander declined the deal, which led to his release.
Money and health were the two biggest reasons for Alexander’s release. The former 2018 first-round pick has made two Second-Team All-Pro teams and two Pro Bowls.
Alexander signed a four-year, $84 million extension in 2022. The 28-year-old was scheduled to make $17.5 million, with none of it guaranteed.
Staying on the field has been Alexander’s biggest problem. The talented defensive back has played just seven regular season games each of the past two seasons. Alexander missed the Packers’ playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last year.

Alexander should have a list of teams lining up to sign the free agent.
The San Francisco 49ers (+450) come to mind as a team looking for a cornerback after losing Charvarius Ward this offseason. Pairing Alexander across from Deommodore Lenoir is a formidable duo on paper.
The Miami Dolphins (+500) are trying to trade Jalen Ramsey. Alexander is a much more affordable option, especially if Miami can find Ramsey a new home.
The Philadelphia Eagles (+600) and Los Angeles Rams (+650) are two teams that will never say no to adding premier talent for the right price.
