Erik ten Hag is the most relieved man in Manchester after his United side came from behind to beat Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag entered Saturday’s game as the favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked according to the best football betting sites, but the Dutchman can breathe a sigh of relief following a win over Brentford.

In the depths of first-half added time, Ethan Pinnock rose highest from Mikkel Damsgaard’s delivery to head home and put the visitors in front – looking to score their first victory over United in over two years.

A spirited team talk in the dressing room at the interval saw United come out of the break rejuvenated with a fresh approach, levelling the score at 1-1 within less than two minutes of the restart.

Alejandro Garnacho’s first-time volley from a menacing Marcus Rashford cross saw the hosts draw level with Brentford, marking the Argentina international’s 20th goal since ing the Red Devils.

15 minutes later a clever flick from Bruno Fernandes put Rasmus Hojlund through on goal, who made no mistake in converting the one-on-one match-up with Bees stopper Mark Flekken to get United in front.

The win pushed United into the top half of the Premier League table – for now – a staggering six points adrift the Champions League places already after eight games played.
