ESPN’s Adam Schefter was a frequent guest on The Pat McAfee Show. However, the NFL insider did not appear on the program for the last three months. Was Schefter banned from the program?

Inside Pat McAfee-Adam Schefter Situation

The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand posted a column on Thursday about Pat McAfee’s tenure at ESPN. Marchand wrote that Schefter had been “essentially banned” from McAfee’s show since March.

According to Marchand’s source, McAfee wanted Schefter to appear on his radio show. Due to a commitment to an ESPN2 free agency special, Schefter could not be on McAfee’s show.

Schefter did not appear on the show for the next three months.

Ty Schmit, a contributor to McAfee’s show, continued making regular appearances on Schefter’s podcast during the so-called ban.

With Schefter off The Pat McAfee Show, Peter Schrage and Ian Rapoport began appearing more often, with Rapoport guest-hosting the show from Indianapolis one day.

Hours after Marchand reached out to ESPN, a company spokesperson said Schefter would be on McAfee’s show on Thursday (6/12). Schefter did appear on the show and poked fun at being away from the program for three months.

Pat McAfee’s Plans For College GameDay

Besides hosting a popular radio show, McAfee is a ist on College GameDay.

McAfee became a full-time personality on GameDay in 2022. McAfee considered not returning after his first season, but he ultimately re-signed his contract.

McAfee has two years left on his College GameDay deal.

McAfee, who remains one of ESPN’s biggest stars, considered starting his own version of College GameDay. While this won’t be happening soon, it’s possible ESPN could revisit the idea down the road.

McAfee continues to build his image as one of the top personalities on GameDay. During a segment, McAfee swung and missed a ball while facing an Oklahoma softball pitcher.

McAfee did not like the segment and wanted the name of the staff member who put it on air. McAfee never received the name of the employee.
