The Dallas Cowboys are taking their sweet time in getting All-Pro rusher Micah Parsons signed to a new deal. According to the player himself, the delay is only costing the team money, as the price tag on Parsons’ demands are increasing with every ing day. So if the two sides are eventually able to come to an agreement, then Dallas will have two record-breaking contracts on its books.

Cowboys Could Have Two Record-Breaking Contracts On Their Books

Parsons’ eventual deal will set a new bar. The 26-year-old is looking to become the highest paid defensive player in NFL history in of annual contract value, which would break a record that has already been set twice this offseason.

Maxx Crosby sent the precedent with his deal worth $35,500,000 annually, and Myles Garrett sured that number just a few weeks later with his $40 million per year contract.

It wasn’t long ago that the Cowboys doled out record-setting money to one of their top players. Just before the start of the 2024 season, Dak Prescott inked a new deal with the team, one that was worth $240 million over four years. That gave the quarterback an annual value of $60 million, which remains as the richest deal in NFL history.

No other player really comes all that close to touching Prescott’s number, as Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Jordan Love, and Trevor Lawrence all earn $55 million per season.

Will Dallas Stretch Itself Thin Financially?

If they do sign Parsons to the contract that he desires, will the Cowboys have enough money to fill out the rest of the roster with talent to keep them competitive?

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has a price tag that is set to balloon after the 2025 campaign, and the team just gave an $80 million to rusher Osa Odighizuwa.

The offensive line gave up the 12th most sacks in the league last year, and have two players scheduled to make more than $18 million in 2026.
