Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons shared honest comments about his contract situation with the Dallas Cowboys.

Micah Parsons Talks Contract Extension With Dallas Cowboys

The contract situation between Parsons and the Cowboys took an interesting turn.

Jerry Jones.

Parsons revealed that the longer the Cowboys wait, the higher the price will be.

Anyone who follows football knows the best option for the Cowboys is to sign Parsons as soon as possible.

In all likelihood, Parsons will become the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL with his new extension. The Cowboys can either choose to pay that number now, which would be over $40 million, or they can wait and risk another player setting the record.

If another defensive player signs before Parsons and gets over $40 million, Parsons will certainly want to become the new record holder. Instead of $41 million per year, that number could be $42 million or more.

The name to keep an eye on is Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt. The Steelers’ edge rusher is entering the final year of his deal.

Watt wants a new contract and sat out a mandatory minicamp to prove his point.

Why does that matter? According to Hill’s report, Watt is seeking a deal that averages more per year than the number Parsons and Jones talked about. In other words, Parsons wants his deal to be higher than Watt’s extension.

Who Is The Highest Paid Defensive Player In The NFL?

The title of highest-paid NFL defensive player belongs to Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.

The former number-one pick signed a four-year, $160 million extension this offseason for an average per year of $40 million.

The highest-paid non-QB in the NFL is Cincinnati’s Ja’Marr Chase, who signed a four-year, $161 million contract extension.

When Parsons eventually signs a deal with the Cowboys, it will certainly be higher than the contracts signed by Garrett and Chase.
