The countdown to the 2025 U.S. Open is underway as the field prepares for the daunting challenge of Oakmont Country Club. With play set to begin Thursday morning, this year will mark the 10th time that Oakmont has hosted the U.S. Open, the most of any venue in history.
Despite the course’s difficulty, defending champion Bryson DeChambeau will aim to become the first player since Brooks Koepka (2017–2018) to successfully defend his title. He’ll face stiff competition, as the field is stacked with top-tier talent, as world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (+250), Jon Rahm (+1200), Rory McIlroy (+1400), and Xander Schauffele (+2500) are all set to take the course on Thursday.

U.S. Open 2025 Odds
The U.S. Open is set to tee off this weekend at Oakmont Country Club with the best players in the world competing for the 2025 title.
The field will face one of the toughest tests of the year at what many players consider the hardest golf course in the world. As expected, the Oakmont course will be as challenging as ever, featuring thick, penalizing roughs and fast greens.
Despite being the defending champion, DeChambeau is not listed as the favorite, opening at +700 odds. Instead, the world’s hottest player, Scottie Scheffler, enters as the overwhelming betting favorite at +250.
Rounding out the top five contenders are previous champions Jon Rahm (+1200) and Rory McIlroy (+1400), along with U.S. Open hopeful Xander Schauffele at +2500.

U.S. Open 2025 Predictions
Here are our U.S. Open 2025 predictions and the best bets to win the tournament.
- Scottie Scheffler (+250)
- Xander Schauffele (+2500)
- Keegan Bradley (+8500)
Scottie Scheffler (+250)
Despite being the odds-on favorite, Scottie Scheffler sits at the top of the board for a reason. He has won three of his last four events, including the PGA Championship, and hasn’t finished worse than T25 in any tournament this season.
Much of Scheffler’s success comes from his solid tee-to-green game—he ranks first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: tee-to-green (SG:T2G). He’s also the second-best scrambler on tour. With both of those strengths, Scheffler has an edge over the field and should be better equipped to handle the brutal and unforgiving course at Oakmont this weekend.
Xander Schauffele (+2500)
When it comes to the U.S. Open, Xander Schauffele is a player you can’t count out. In eight starts at the tournament, he has never finished worse than 14th and has six top-7 finishes. While Schauffele hasn’t quite looked like himself this year, with no top-20 finishes in majors and a poor putting performance at the Memorial, he still possesses all the tools to win. Even while managing a rib injury, he’s made 65 consecutive cuts. If he can dial in his driver, he may be on the verge of capturing his third major.
Keegan Bradley (+8500)
Keegan Bradley may be a longshot, but the Ryder Cup captain is someone to keep an eye on at Oakmont this weekend. He’s been playing well and ranks inside the top 30 in all strokes gained metrics. If Bradley can stay consistent with his putter, he’s poised for a strong showing. He’s coming off a T8 finish at the PGA Championship and a T7 at the Memorial, and his current form is strong enough to contend with the field. At this price, he’ll be hard to lay off of even at one of the toughest courses on the Tour.
