Talk of a potential Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury clash has been on British boxing fans’ lips for well over five years now. Although both fighters have suffered recent damaging defeats, the all-British heavyweight clash remains one of the biggest fights in world boxing.

It seems that 2025 could finally be the year for Fury vs AJ. Joshua suffered a damaging defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

Despite both fighters perhaps being past their best and suffering damaging defeats of late, the fight remains a huge domestic dust-up. Both fighters are of course former two-time world heavyweight champions, not to mention the fact are two of the biggest names in world boxing.

Although it seemed that Anthony Joshua would be rematching Daniel Dubois in early 2025, the fight has been put off hence why talks of a clash with ‘The Gypsy King’ have resurfaced.

Both Joshua and Fury themselves have outlined numerous times their desire to fight each other. As of today boxing fans still haven’t seen the fight, but it looks like 2025 could finally be the year for Joshua vs Fury.

Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn are working in tandem – the two respective promoters of ‘AJ’ and Fury.

In a recent interview with Tyson Fury this year:

“I’ve been involved in a whole lot of fights, but this has to happen in 2025. Of course, it has to happen, and hopefully it does happen,” ‘AJ’ said.

These sentiments have been echoed by Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, who has expressed his desire to stage Joshua vs Fury in 2025. Both he and Queensberry Promotions have a great working relationship now, making the fight even easier to make.

With both coming in off defeats and no longer in the immediate world heavyweight title picture, Fury vs Joshua simply has to happen this year.

“From our side we’ve got Tyson Fury fight will be a huge global event as well,” Hearn told Al Arabiya.

After Fury’s recent defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch in Saudi Arabia, Hearn told DAZN he believes the fight is the biggest in British boxing history:

“I don’t think it’s time to start screaming, this night is Tyson Fury and that’s Anthony Joshua.

“It’s the biggest fight probably in the history of British boxing, everyone will always want to see it,” concluded Hearn.
