Liverpool manager Arne Slot made a tongue-in-cheek remark about Manchester City’s ongoing legal case.

Ahead of Man City’s 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations.

When asked about Mohamed Salah’s potential future at Liverpool and whether Sunday’s 2-0 victory over City might have been the Egyptian’s last Anfield meeting with the reigning champions, Slot quipped, “Maybe Mo knows more about the 115 acquisitions [charges] that are done, so he expects them not to be in the Premier League next season.”

The jab prompted laughter from the gathered press, though Slot was quick to backtrack and emphasise that his comment was meant in jest.

“This is not the place for me to speak about Mo’s contract,” he said. “Maybe I’ve said too much already about the joke I’ve just made. So that will probably get the headlines, but it was a joke. I repeat, it was a joke.”

Man City have been under scrutiny following allegations of financial misconduct, with the Premier League charging them with 115 breaches of its financial rules earlier this year.

These accusations span several years and include failing to provide accurate financial information and obstructing investigations.

While City have consistently denied any wrongdoing, the ongoing case has led to speculation about potential punishments, including fines, point deductions, or even relegation.

Liverpool Focused on Newcastle x31c

As for Liverpool, they remain fully focused on their Premier League campaign. After their 2-0 win over City, thanks to goals from Salah and Cody Gakpo, Slot’s side are preparing for a tricky away trip to Newcastle.

The Anfield crowd has been buoyed by the team’s recent form, and Salah’s consistent brilliance continues to dominate headlines.

However, Eddie Howe’s side have been boosted with talisman Alexander Isak declaring himself fit for the game.
