Arsenal’s stalemate with Everton couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Gunners who had a golden opportunity in the title race today.

Mikel Arteta‘s men dominated the ball with 77% possession on the day but couldn’t find a way through against a resilient Toffees side, led by an impressive showing from Jordan Pickford between the sticks.

Surprisingly, Arsenal haven’t scored an open play goal in their last four Premier League games and the attack is hitting an untimely flat spot as the busy festive fixtures roll around.

The Gunners attempted 682 es against the visitors – their highest total in a league game this season – but Everton pair James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite held firm at the heart of defence.

The result comes as an even bigger surprise considering Arsenal’s 102 wins against Everton is the most any side has beaten another in top-flight history.

Liverpool remain odds-on for title, Arsenal 3/1 to turn the tables 58241t

League leaders Liverpool, who slipped for the second game in a row with another draw at home to Fulham this afternoon, maintain a six-point gap from Arsenal in third.

That lead could have been reduced to just four if Mikel Arteta’s men had got the job done against Everton on Saturday, who avoided defeat to the Gunners after straight defeats in their last three meetings.

Arsenal also drew with Fulham last weekend and the Cottagers have done their West London neighbours Chelsea quite the favour in the title race, with the Blues able to go two points behind Liverpool if they beat Brentford tomorrow.

Chelsea have never beaten Brentford at home in the league so that’s one to keep an eye on, but it’s hard to see them not taking the spoils off the back of six straight wins.

As per the best football betting sites, Liverpool are still slight odds-on favourites to win a 20th league title this season but Arsenal remain firmly in the hunt at a price of 3/1.
