LaLiga winners Barcelona have reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne on a free. 

They are more interested in sealing a move for Liverpool man Luis Diaz.

Unlike De Bruyne, who will leave Man City at the end of the season, Diaz’s Liverpool deal expires in June 2027.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona’s impressive performances under Hansi Flick in the 2024/25 season have turned heads. Not only did they win LaLiga, but they also secured the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana. They beat rivals Real Madrid in all three competitions, including two cup finals.

Man City legend Kevin De Bruyne, who was surprised by Man City’s decision not to renew him, is one of many interested in a move to Barcelona. The 33-year-old, who believes he can play at the top level for at least one more season, offered his services to Barcelona. The Belgian maestro was prepared to sign a one-year deal and play out wide.

Despite his impressive track record in the Premier League and free agent status, Barca have declined his offer. They are not looking for a player of De Bruyne’s profile and are eyeing a move for Liverpool’s Luis Diaz instead.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have no intention of selling the Colombian winger. They have already turned down advances from Barcelona, but the Spanish side have yet to throw in the towel.

Although Barcelona have rejected his offer, De Bruyne should find himself a home in Europe. According to reports, Serie A winners Napoli are likely to be his next club.
