Serhou Guirassy netted a hat-trick for Borussia Dortmund in a 3-1 win against Barcelona but it was not enough as the Spanish side picked up a 5-3 aggregate victory – read below for our player ratings.

Serhou Guirassy Hat-Trick Not Enough As Barcelona Reach UCL Semi Final 2x130

The hosts came into this Champions League quarter-final second-leg knowing that a historic comeback was needed to reach the semi-finals after losing 4-0 in Spain.

Dortmund showed no signs of lying down for Barcelona and managed to take the lead after just 11 minutes after Serhou Guirassy converted from the penalty spot.

Barcelona goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, brought down Pascal Gross and allowed Guirassy to score his 11th goal in the Champions League.

The Polish shot-stopper was called into action on several occasions in the opening 45-minutes and was key for Barcelona.

Dortmund were also the quickest to assert their dominance on the second-half and Guirassy was on target once again with a superb header to give Dortmund some belief.

This belief was cut short just moments later, as Fermin Lopez’s cross cannoned off Ramy Bensebaini and into his own net.

Guirassy completed his hat-trick, a perfect hat-trick, to send nerves down the spine of Barcelona fans but the Spanish side held on to book a place in the Champions League semi-final.

Gregor Kobel – 6.5

It was not an action-filled night for the Swiss international but was ready when called upon – not much he could do with the own goal.

Ramy Bensebaini – 6

Scoring an own-goal means it’s hard to give the Algerian a high rating however his assist for the second-goal was a superb delivery

Waldemar Anton – 6

It was not a sparkling performance from the German international, failing to assert his dominance on the match – but helped keep Barca at bay for the majority.

Niklas Sule – 7

The German defender dealt with Robert Lewandowski well during the match and gave his side a strong foundation to build upon.

Daniel Svensson – 7

A surprisngly impressive performance from the 23-year-old, created a few chances for his side and was not startled by his battle with Lamine Yamal.

Pascal Gross – 7

The former Brighton midfielder played a key part in Dortmund’s opening goal by winning the penalty, kept things simple and was an assured figured in midfield.

Felix Nmecha – 6.5

Lost possession on a few occasions and picked up a silly yellow card, but the German midfielder showed glimpses of why he has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

Yan Couto – 6

It was always going to be a difficult night for the Spaniard going toe-to-toe with Raphinha, did not make many mistakes but was not much of an option at wing-back.

Karim Adeyemi – 6.5

Adeyemi’s pace caused some issues for the visitors on a few occasions and the German created multiple chances for his side.

Maximilian Beier – 6

It was an underwhelming performance from the highly-rated German youngster, made life difficult for Barcelona at times but lacked that cutting edge.

Serhou Guirassy – 10

The Borussia Dortmund striker was on a man on a mission in this European clash and took his hat trick superbly – unlucky to not be on the side that progressed.

Wojciech Szczesny – 7

Despite conceding three goals, the Polish veteran made a multitude of saves and was a key reason in Barcelona’s progress to the semi-final.

Gerard Martín – 6

Was caught sleeping for Barcelona’s third goal and looked to be a weak point in the LaLiga sides’ defence – lucky Julian Brandt’s goal was ruled out for offside.

Pau Cubarsi – 5.5

This match could be a pivotal moment in Pau Cubarsi’s career as he endured a difficult night against Borussia Dortmund’s hat-trick hero.

Ronald Araujo – 5

Similarly to his partner, Araujo struggled to live with Dortmund’s number nine and made a costly error that allowed the hosts to find the back of the net.

Jules Kounde – 6

Was an overall steady performance from the French international, did not make many mistakes but failed to offer much going forward.

Gavi – 5.5

Gavi failed to impress at the Signal Iduna Park, the youngster could not get a hold of the midfield and was substituted midway through the second-half.

Frenkie de Jong – 6

Showed glimpses of the player that we have become accustom to seeing, received a poor yellow card in the opening 35 minutes.

Raphinha – 6

Considering the Brazilian’s performances this season, this was a disappointing evening for the former Leeds player as he failed to make a notable impact.

Fermin Lopez – 6.5

The Spaniard was quiet for large parts of the night but jumped into action and provided the assist that caused Dortmund’s own goal.

Lamine Yamal – 6

The teenager was not on top form in Dortmund this evening and failed to have the impact that we know he can have – showed flashes of brilliance of course.

Robert Lewandowski – 4

Did Lewandowski play? No, that is a bit harsh but the Polish striker struggled to get into the match and was never a threat.
