The latest Bournemouth injury update is bad news for Cherries fans as striker Evanilson has surgery on a fractured foot.

Saturday’s 1-0 win over Everton could prove costly for Andoni Iraola’s side.

Brazilian forward Evanilson, 25, was replaced in the closing minutes of the match.

However, further assessment revealed he had suffered a broken metatarsal and required surgical intervention.

The club have confirmed that the operation was successful but are yet to set a timeframe for the player’s return.

Bournemouth Offer Injury Update On Evanilson 33830

In a statement, Bournemouth gave further details on Evanilson’s injury and resulting surgery.

The club said: “We can confirm Evanilson has undergone a successful procedure to repair a fractured metatarsal sustained during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Everton.

“Another tireless performance from the Brazilian striker, who has been instrumental in the club’s recent good form, was brought to an end when he was substituted with discomfort in the final stages.

“Further assessment following the match revealed a broken bone that would require surgery.

“The club’s medical staff will now provide Evanilson with their full through the rehabilitation process, ensuring he has the best possible recovery.

“Everybody at AFC Bournemouth sends their best wishes to Eva, and we hope to see him return to the field soon.”

The injury could not have come at a worse time for Evanilson or Bournemouth.

Iraola’s side have been in superb form and find themselves in the hunt for European football for the first time in their history.

Evanilson ed from Porto for a club record fee of £40m in the summer. He has since scored five times in 19 appearances for the Cherries.

Victory at the weekend set another record for the club. They have now gone eight Premier League matches unbeaten for the first time.

Bournemouth sit seventh in the table, three points outside of the Champions League places.

Next up, they face West Brom at home in the FA Cup Third Round at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
