It’s been a difficult couple of years for Mykhailo Mudryk.

He arrived from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2024 for a huge sum of £88 million.

But despite the price tag, Mudryk has failed to impose himself in the Premier League.

He has scored just 10 goals for the club in 79 total appearances, and had not scored a Premier League goal in 2024/25 prior to his suspension.

As a result of his poor form and ongoing ban, many expect him to leave Chelsea.

There is no confirmation of this yet, but the decision to strip him of his number and hand it to Cole Palmer suggests he is probably on the move.

Chelsea are one of two Premier League teams in the Club World Cup, with Mudryk not set to be involved.

“This has come as a complete shock as I have never knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened.

“I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon. I cannot say any more now due to the confidentiality of the process, but I will as soon as I can.”
