After the first round of games in matchday four, Liverpool have topped the Champions League group stage table making it four wins from four on Wednesday night.

The first half was a nervy period between two sides that wanted to avoid conceding early at all costs and as a result, the teams headed into the tunnel at half time with the score level at 0-0.

Jeremie Frimpong did have the ball in the back of the Liverpool net just before half time, but the Dutchman’s finish was rightfully ruled out for a handball earlier in the play.

Although the score was level at half time, there was no denying the eventual winners as Liverpool ran rampant in the second half, putting four past their German opposition.

Luis Diaz scored his first of the game just after the hour mark, with the Colombian lifting a cheeky chip over Lukas Hradecky to send Anfield into hysterics.

It didn’t take long after they scored their first for the Reds to double their advantage, as Cody Gakpo headed home a Mohamed Salah cross at the back post to put the hosts in a commanding position with half an hour to play.

Salah got another assist for Liverpool’s third as he whipped in a similar ball to the back post, where this time Diaz was lurking to score his second of the game and put the Reds out of sight.

Diaz managed to put the icing on the cake in the final seconds of the game, as the forward completed his second half hat-trick with virtually the final kick of the game to give Liverpool a deserved 4-0 win.

After winning their fourth Champions League match in a row this season, Liverpool are now 6/1 to win the competition according to the best football betting sites.
