The legendary Rafael Nadal has been the most decorated player in French Open history, having claimed 14 titles at Roland-Garros.
In May 2025, the Spaniard was honoured with a special farewell ceremony for his unmatched heroics at the iconic venue. A capacity crowd at the 15,000-seater stadium all honoured him as he took his final bow. Many in attendance, including 2025 French Open participants, wore special ‘Merci Rafa’ t-shirts to honour Nadal.
Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer walked out to the court to honour their former rival and dearest friend.

Rafael Nadal won his first French Open in 2005, beating Mariano Puerta in the final. He won the game 6-7(6-8), 6-3, 6-1, and 7-5. He bagged four titles on the bounce before Roger Federer ended his streak in 2009.
Nadal bounced back with a bang in 2010 and won five titles on the trot until Stan Wawrinka dethroned him in 2015. His last French Open streak came between 2017 and 2021, as he beat Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem (x2), and Novak Djokovic for the crown.

Nadal claimed his record-extending 14th French Open title in 2022, overcoming Casper Ruud. He beat the Norwegian 6-3, 6-3, and 6-0 in one of the most one-sided finals in the competition’s history.

With six French Open titles, Bjorn Borg is the second-most successful tennis player in the tournament’s history. Borg won six French Open titles in his career, with the first one coming in 1974.
Still in his teens, Borg beat the much more experienced Manuel Orantes in the 1974 French Open final. The following year, he got the better of Guillermo Vilas to defend his crown.
Borg returned to the top step once more in 1978 and kicked off a spell of dominance. He held on to his title until 1981, beating Ivan Lendl in his final to claim his sixth and last French Open title.
