Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side moved up to fifth in the Premier League with an impressive 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest and here are our player ratings for the match.

Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest Player Ratings 6x223

Newcastle Ratings 3t3844

Nick Pope – 6

Brought back into the starting XI and wasn’t at fault for Nottingham Forest’s three goals. His distribution was on point until he ed straight to Morgan Gibbs-White before half-time.

Tino Livramento – 6.5

The England international put in a decent shift and made a number of important defensive actions. Booked.

Fabian Schar – 5

Left a massive gap for Callum Hudson-Odoi to stroll through for Forest’s opening goal. Looked nervous after the break and failed to clear his lines when the visitors made it 4-3.

Dan Burn – 6

Dealt well with Chris Wood’s aerial presence but it was his poor that led to the corner which Forest bagged their second goal from.

Lewis Hall – 9

Receives the highest score in our Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest player ratings. A real livewire for Newcastle providing the assist for Lewis Miley, linking up with Alexander Isak for their second and then winning the penalty for the third.

Lewis Miley – 7

Scored in his first Premier League start of the season with a brilliant finish. Perhaps could have done better with Nottingham Forest’s second goal as he half-heartedly threw out a leg but was beaten to the ball.

Bruno Guimaraes – 6

Dropped into a deeper midfield role so was understandably not as influential going forward. Was steady in possession and improved in the second-half after the introduction of Sandro Tonali.

Joe Willock – 7

Made up for a poor display against Man City by sliding through Alexander Isak for Newcastle’s fourth. Was subbed as Newcastle started to lose control of the game.

Jacob Murphy – 6.5

Reckless in possession as he gave the ball away cheaply for Nottingham Forest’s opener. Made amends by putting Newcastle ahead after the ball dropped to him at close-range and came close to a second before he was hooked off.

Alexander Isak – 8

Involved in the build-up for Newcastle’s second and then scored two goals as the Magpies ran rampant in the first-half. His bizarre penalty was lucky to find the net while the second deflected over the head of Matz Sels.

Alexander Isak – Newcastle United

Anthony Gordon – 6

Showed a lot of positive energy during the match but his end product was lacking.

Substitutes

Sandro Tonali (On for Joe Willock 69′) – 6

Helped bring some defensive solidity in midfield when Nottingham Forest were getting control of the game.

Harvey Barnes (On for Jacon Murphy 70′) – 6

Tried to take on the defenders and create a fifth goal for Newcastle.

Callum Wilson (On for Alexander Isak 86′) – N/A

Nottingham Forest Ratings 5a4c40

Matz Sels – 5

Should have done better with Alexander Isak’s comical penalty but not much he could have done about the rest of Newcastle’s goals.

Ola Aina – 4

Sloppy in possession and struggled against Anthony Gordon and Lewis Hall. Gave away a penalty for handball and gets the lowest score in our Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest player ratings.

Nikola Milenkovic – 5

All over the place for Nottingham Forest at the back in the first-half, getting dragged out of position for Newcastle’s second and was run-ragged by the Magpies’ attacking players. Improved after the break and scored Forest’s second with a creative finish.

Murillo – 6

Like his defensive partner it was a tale of two halves. Sloppy in possession in the first but looked comfortable in the second.

Nico Williams – 6

Should have had an assist to his name when Anthony Elanga failed to score from two-yards out.

Nicolas Dominguez – 6

Won the majority of his duels and made some important tackles but Forest lost the midfield battle and he was booked in the second-half.

Elliott Anderson – 6

Not his best game and appears to play better when alongside Ryan Yates rather than Nicolas Dominguez. Was booked and replaced by Yates in the second-half.

Anthony Elanga – 5

Had one of the misses of the season in the second-half after attempting to poke the ball home with his foot when he should have gone with his head.

Morgan Gibbs-White – 6

Far from Morgan Gibbs-White’s best day at the office as he lost possession cheaply on occasion and lacked his usual attacking influence.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 7

Nottingham Forest’s most dangerous player and showed great reactions to dispossess Jacob Murphy before finishing superbly to give Forest the early lead.

Chris Wood – 6

Hardly touched the ball for Nottingham Forest as his team-mates struggled to keep the ball for a sustained period.

Substitutes

Ryan Yates (On for Nicolas Dominguez 76′) – 7

Showed a lot of energy when he came onto the pitch and was rewarded with a goal.

Ibrahim Sangare (On for Elliot Anderson 76′) – 6

Helped bring some defensive solidity when he came on.
