Southampton defender and England international Taylor Harwood-Bellis is believed to be attracting interest from Chelsea.

This week, it emerged that Chelsea are lining up a possible move for Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

The Saints centre back, 23, earned a senior England debut in November 2024.

He scored in the Three Lions’ 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland under interim boss Lee Carsley.

Despite a challenging campaign, where he was part of a Southampton defence that finished bottom of the Premier League, Harwood-Bellis is on the radar of several clubs.

The Manchester City academy graduate was a key man for the Saints as they won promotion from the Championship in 2024.

And it seems Chelsea are the latest club to consider making a move for him.

But while the possibility of Harwood-Bellis to Chelsea excited some, others are less convinced.

One fan said on Twitter (now X): “I DONT want Harwood-Bellis at Chelsea. Not a Chelsea level player!!!!”

Another added: “Please not Harwood-Bellis. He’s not Chelsea level.

“Joe Shields is going a little too far with these ex City academy players.”

However, some Southampton ers were thrilled at the possibility of earning a significant fee for their man.

“Harwood-Bellis to Chelsea meaning we get our money back on both him and Ramsdale would be sensational,” posted one Saints fan.

Chelsea Spending Under Boehly A Cautionary Tale 2s6i6f

It’s no surprise to see some Chelsea fans apprehensive about this transfer rumour.

The club have spent a staggering amount of money under Todd Boehly.

Since the American businessman took over in May 2022, Chelsea have spent well over £1 billion on new gs.

In that time, they have enjoyed very little on-field success. This year’s UEFA Europa Conference League win is their only trophy under the current owners.

Mykhailo Mudryk is one of many recent Chelsea gs to struggle.

They already have an over-inflated squad, and are paying vast sums in wages to players who rarely feature.

Just this week, reports suggested that Mykhailo Mudryk could be leaving Chelsea after the Ukrainian winger was stripped of his jersey number.

Instead, the number 10 will be Cole Palmer’s shirt number at the Club World Cup.

Chelsea also have the biggest senior playing squad in the Premier League, with 41 ed at the start of last season.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis Girlfriend Could Influence Transfer Decision 17s19

But a factor that could have a big say in Taylor Harwood-Bellis’ next club is his girlfriend.

The defender is in a long-term relationship with Leah Keane, daughter of Manchester United legend Roy.

In November, The Sun reported that the pair had become engaged.

While we’re sure future father-in-law Roy would sooner Harwood-Bellis ended up at Man United, it seems he’s more likely to play in West London next season.

When Harwood-Bellis scored on debut for England against Ireland, Roy Keane was on usual form in the ITV Sport studio.

When asked for his view on the goal Keane joked: “It’s bittersweet for me this.

“It’s [Harwood-Bellis and Leah Keane’s engagement] not done and dusted yet. Things can change very quickly in the Keane household.”

But he also praised the defender for his performance.

“Over the last few months he’s got a goal threat, even playing for Southampton. It’s nice for him.”
