Tom Aspinall Gives Jon Jones ‘Ultimatum’ As Unified UFC Heavyweight Title Bout Looks Less Likely 41a3k

British fighter Tom Aspinall has conceded his next fight is looking less likely to be against Jon Jones, and that he may need to ‘move on’ from that fight.
Having held the interim UFC heavyweight title since November 2023, Aspinall has been keen for the chance to unify by fighting regular title holder Jon Jones.
But the 32-year-old Brit has itted he may need to ‘move on’ from a heavyweight unification bout.
American fighter Jones, 37 has stated repeatedly that he does not wish to face Aspinall, who is rapidly losing patience.
Having been expected to fight Jones next, Aspinall is now reportedly due to face Ciryl Gane at UFC 317 in June.

Speaking on The High Performance Podcast, Wigan native Aspinall said: “Me personally, I can’t do anything. I think it’s just down to money, on his side. I’ll fight whenever, wherever he wants, but it’s down to money, I think.
“I just think that at this stage in his career, he’s had an amazing career. I just think that he’s 37, 38, but he’s got a million miles on the clock.
“He’s got a lot of damage on the body, he’s taken a lot of shots to the head. That’s not me saying anything negative about him; that’s the reality of it, and I’m sure Jon is aware of that.
“When you put him in with… and I’m not trying to blow my own trumpet, but I’m literally the most dangerous guy in the UFC, if you look at the stats. When you put him in with a guy of my size who has those credentials, at this stage in his career, I think Jon is a smart guy and he realises that he wants to be compensated financially for it.
“I’m well bored of it, I’ve had enough. We either need to fight or I need to move on, do something else.”

Jones fought in November, beating Stipe Miocic with a spinning back kick. But that bout was more than a year later than planned due to Jones tearing a pectoral muscle in late 2023.
With Aspinall winning the interim title and defending it again last summer, a unification bout would usually follow.
But that fight is yet to materialise, with the Brit close to giving up.
