What Happens If The Masters Is Unable To Finish On A Sunday Due To Rain? 3z2y4s
Despite traditionally finishing on Sunday, the Masters has been pushed to Monday multiple times due to adverse weather conditions.
The most recent times this happened was in 1983 when Augusta National was hit with torrential rain and gale-force winds. In-fact, most of southeastern United States was caught in the storms.
Conditions were so brutal on the Friday that the second round was washed out.
The round was pushed back to Saturday. There was a further 32-minute delay and six golfers, including Jack Nicklaus were forced to finish their second rounds on Sunday morning.
Given all the drama surrounding the weather conditions, it was agreed that the third round would take place on the Sunday and the fourth and final round was on Monday. Spanish golf icon Seve Ballesteros won the green jacket.
Other years where the Masters finished on a Monday include 1936, 1938, 1961 and 1973.
