Arsenal’s youngsters faced Italian side Atalanta in the UEFA Youth League on Thursday and Dowman broke a special record, despite coming up short in the game. The Gunners lost 4-1 in Bergamo on Thursday afternoon and Dowman scored the North London side’s only goal.

In the process, he became the youngest scorer in the competition’s history at the age of 14 years, eight months and 19 days. Could a Premier League debut be around the corner?

Dowman takes the record from Nice loanee Youssoufa Moukoko, who was the original holder thanks to his goal during his days in the Borussia Dortmund youth setup.

Jack Wilshere, who manages the Arsenal youngster is a huge fan and recently said: “He can be more consistent but he’s only 14 and hasn’t even started his GCSEs yet.

“We need to find a balance of letting him play and enjoy the game because of his age but also trying to get as much work into him as we can. Hopefully, we can fast-track him and when he goes over to the first team he’ll be more ready.”

Dowman even had the chance to train with the Gunners’ first team earlier this year and impressed massively. He has one goal and two assists already this season across the U18 Premier League and Cup.

Meanwhile the midfielder also represents England at Youth level for the U-17 side. Dowman has been likened to Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard and it may not be long until we see the two playing alongside each other…

Up next for Dowman and the youngsters is an away trip to Brighton & Hove Albion in the U18 Premier League on 28th .
